Product life cycle
This is the idea that products, like people, have a birth, a life and a death, and that they should be financed and marketed with this in mind. Even as a new product is being launched, its manufacturer should be preparing for the day when it has to be killed off. Its sales and profits start at a low level, rise (it is hoped) to a high level and then decline again to a low level. This cycle is sometimes referred to simply as PLC.
Whole Foods Is Becoming Amazon’s Brick-and-Mortar Pricing Lab
Speculation continues to percolate on the implications of Amazon’s recently completed $13.7-billion purchase of Whole Foods. Did Amazon buy the pioneering organic food and grocery chain to gain instant access to its brick-and-mortar stores in attractive neighborhoods? Do Jeff Bezos and his team want to exploit the vast cross-selling opportunities because of the presumed similarities between Amazon Prime members and Whole Foods customers? Is this an end-run around Walmart, who until this deal looked set to dominate online grocery ordering? Is Amazon trying to capitalize on the growing trend of mail-order meal kits?

How Safe Is Your Connected Home?
Security experts are both thrilled and anxious about the internet of things (IoT), the ever-growing collection of smart electronic gadgets that interact with the world around them. It includes devices like internet-connected garage door openers, refrigerators you can text to see if you’re low on milk and tennis rackets that offer tips on a better backhand — even smart sex toys. The technology research firm Gartner estimates that 6.4 billion such IoT devices were connected online in 2016, and that number doesn’t include smartphones, tablets or laptops.

Device Trials Go Unpublished
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) makes available summaries of the clinical studies behind medical device approvals. But as researchers reported in The BMJ this month (June 10), these “are not easy to access,” and they found just half of the trials ultimately get published in the literature where clinicians might have an easier time reading them.
Feds Demand More Clinical Trial Reporting
Government health agencies are cracking down on sluggish reporting of clinical trial results. Last week (September 16), Health and Human Services (HHS) announced an expansion of an existing law, which will require the results of all but Phase 1 studies to be posted on clinicaltrials.gov within one year of the trial ending. Previously, only trials related to approved treatments were subject to the rule.
An FDA Viewpoint on Unique Considerations for Medical-Device Clinical Trials
Medical devices play a critical role in the lives and health of millions of people worldwide. From everyday household items such as oral thermometers to complex implantables such as deep-brain stimulators, patients and the general public rely on regulators to ensure that legally marketed medical devices have been shown to be safe and effective. Regulators expect data that are provided by device manufacturers to reflect the risk profile of the device. For example, a device that most consumers can use without instruction, such as reading glasses or elastic bandages, will require a very different evidence profile than a device, such a portable ventilator, on which a patient’s life could depend.

India needs a uniform civil code
The disparities and atrocities on women before or after marriage, the issue of ‘triple Talaq’ across the country has flared up the necessity of Uniform Civil code in the country to protect the civilian rights. It is mentioned in the Article 44 of the Indian Constitution that “the state shall endeavor to secure for the citizens a uniform civil code throughout the territory of India”. In the light of the Indian constitution’s article 44 it is always asked whether it is not a high time that India adopted a uniform civil code. Personal laws are civil laws which deal with matters such as marriage, divorce, custody, adoption, inheritance etc. The article being one of the directive principles of the state policy clearly be “endeavored” rather being forced upon any community or communities. Is terrorism the price we have to pay for democracy?
Recent spurt in terrorist activities across the globe in the name of religion has raised the question mark on the efficiency on the governance, social connectivity, and doubt about the motives of these terrorists. The terrorists impose their own rules, do not allow the society to live in peace and grow, try to stop spread of education, earn money from outside sources just to create terror in the otherwise peaceful society.
