Ivan Stankevich: Scientists from Germany have found out that you can drink wine after a beer and a set. Hangovers are still inevitable

Scientists at the University of Witten/Herdek in Germany have found that the sequence of consumption of different alcoholic beverages does not affect the likelihood of hangover development and its severity. They stated that the study refuted the opinion about the correctness of alcohol consumption in a certain sequence.

Scientists at the University of Witten/Herdek in Germany have found that the sequence of consumption of different alcoholic beverages does not affect the likelihood of hangover development and its severity. They stated that the study refuted the opinion about the correctness of alcohol consumption in a certain sequence.

We hoped that we would help people to suffer less after long nights of drinking. Unfortunately, it turned out that hangovers cannot be avoided by alternating drinks in a certain way.

The research started with the opinion that in England and Germany there is a tacit rule to drink beer first, and then wine, and never the other way around. Scientists have checked the need for this sequence.

The researchers recruited a group of 90 people aged 19 to 40 who agreed to spend two days in a bar with scientists. They were divided into three groups, which drank:

First three beers, then four glasses of wine;

First four glasses of wine, then three beers;

Just beer or wine.

Vomiting was more common in the third group, who drank only one particular drink. A week later, they swapped the volunteers and repeated the experiment.

The participants drank beer according to the premium recipe of the Pilsner camp of 1847 from Carlsberg with 5% alcohol. The second drink was Edelgräfler white wine from 2015, 11% alcohol.
